Today's Fact

On January 18, 1788, the European colonization of Australia began as a convict-laden fleet of ships, known as the First Fleet, arrived in Botany Bay, Australia. The ships said for 250 days from England before finding land 15,000 miles away from home. Around 1,300 people, including 736 deported criminals, began new lives on the continent.

  1. They couldn't ship convicts to the US of A anymore, I recon. I look back at the hideous karmic debt load in the European expansion across the globe, and shake my head....
